RS series v1.16 - improved MPPT shading performance

Check out what's new with the latest RS firmware update, version 1.16! Released on January 22nd, 2024, this update brings exciting improvements to the performance of MPPTs in our RS series. Gone are the days of inefficient shade detection methods. With v1.16, we've introduced a fast periodic sweep feature that significantly enhances partial shading performance. Every 5 minutes, the system conducts a short five-second scan, ensuring optimal efficiency even in shaded conditions. Extensive field testing has validated these improvements, making this update a must-have for all RS systems. Here's a rundown of the key changes included in this release: For all RS models:

• The DCDC circuit fan now starts earlier, enhancing overall system cooling.
• Introducing product settings lock functionality, a feature set to debut in the upcoming VictronConnect app release of 2024.

For RS models with built-in MPPT:

• Enhanced partial shading mechanism with a new periodic full scan, especially beneficial for units with multiple trackers. Say goodbye to inefficiencies caused by shading!
• Lowered PV under voltage limit from 85V to 65V, resulting in a slight boost in daily energy yield.

Exclusive to Multi RS:

• Resolved grid charge issue, ensuring uninterrupted connection to the grid when allow-to-discharge is inactive.

History logging and VRM reporting improvements:

• Fixed bugs causing occasional nonsensical values in min/max battery voltage history fields.
• Improved VRM energy counter reporting, even when the inverter is off.

VE.CAN NMEA2000 enhancements:

• Fixed fast-packet transmission issues, preventing custom name loss on connected GX devices (applies to Inverter RS and Multi RS only).

How to Install: Updating your RS system is a breeze. Simply use the VictronConnect app or go online via the VRM Portal.
